My Story
After nearly two decades on the river, I’ve learned that the adventure begins when the details are planned. My name is Carrie, founder of Moki Canyon and this is how the river became both my classroom and my calling.
After nearly a decade of professional guiding and almost 20 years of river running, I’ve discovered that my true passion lies in helping others experience the magic of the river, without the stress of planning.
My river career began in 2009 on the Chattooga River in North Georgia, where I immediately fell in love with every aspect of river life. I guided on several rivers throughout the Southeast before making my move out west. In 2011, I landed in Idaho and began guiding on the Payette River, where I was introduced to the thrill of big water rafting! Soon after, I found an opportunity to travel to Chile, guiding on the Teno river in Los Quenes and exploring the beauty of the country.

Where the
River First Called
The Journey West
In 2014, I moved to Colorado and spent four seasons guiding on Clear Creek in Idaho Springs. I fell deeply in love with Colorado and have called it home ever since. Over the years, I’ve led private trips throughout California, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado, including two full Grand Canyon expeditions as the trip leader.
From 2009 to today, I’ve logged over 10,000 river miles, both private and commercial. I also maintained my Wilderness First Responder certification from 2009 through 2024, and my Swift Water Rescue Technician certification from 2011-2017 ensuring that safety and preparedness were always central to my work on the water.

Rivers run through my veins. They bring me the most joy, peace, and connection, and are at the heart of life in the West. I started Moki Canyon so others could experience the best parts of river running without the stress and worry of planning complex trips. My goal is to help every client feel relaxed, confident, and ready for the trip of a lifetime.
